A New Twist for the Old Craps Game
21 Mar 2006
Craps have been around for a long time. And it seems everyone had played it. From small time crooks playing craps on street corners trying to earn a little buck, and up to the biggest casino houses rolling dice and offering craps games for huge sums of money. The mathematics behind the game is rather straight forward and a quick analysis of the possibility will show that you have a 49.29 chance to win. A 1 to 2 chance is not bed at all considering other casino games alternatives.
The rules for Craps are very simple. The shooter rolls the dice. Ending up with a score of 7 or a score of 11 will make the shooter win the round. Ending up with a score of 2, 3, or a score of 12 will make him the loser. In case the Craps shooter ended up with a different score, (leaving 4, 5,6,8,9 or 10), that score will then become the shooter's point. The player will shoot the dice until he reaches his shooter's point once again and by that he will win the round. In case the shooter reaches a score of 7 the round will be lost. These are the rules Casino Craps players have followed for years.
In "Craps Countdown" winter issue of Gambling Times, a new suggestion regarding the rules has been made. A new rule will be added to the Craps game. In case the player shoots a 5 or a 9 a new situation will emerge. The player and people who bet on him could decide if they want to double their bet or not. The player will have 10 more times to shoot the dice. Making his shooter's point crowns him the winner, coming up with a score of 7 will make him lose the round, as usual. The new rule has a twist at the end of the game. If the Craps player finishes his 10 dice shots with no clear win or lose outcome he will automatically win, but if he makes his shooter's point on the 10th shot he will win a prize 10 times bigger then his original bet!
"Craps Countdown"'s suggestion is a refreshing breeze for this old game. It's left to be seen rather the new rule will become an integrated part of the Craps game or will remained an interesting idea, just like it is today.
